Many heritage houses in Pila were constructed during the early years of American rule. Unlike most town centers declared as heritage zone, the historical houses in Pila were designed in American chalet-style houses with a mixture of Spanish and native elements and Art Deco design fixtures. Most of the houses were owned by prominent families of Pila. Most of the heritage houses in Pila are surrounded by lush gardens. Pila was never seriously damaged by the battles of World War II.
